What is 3D animation ? | thespy.co.in

3D animation monitors objects by considering space coordinates and usually involves modeling, render and surface properties highlighting and camera motions.

3D animation takes the entire experience of multimedia to another level.

3D animation is the foundation upon which many multimedia CD games and adventure titles are constructed.

Creating 3D animation is considerably more complex than 2D animation and involves the following steps-

  • modeling-it the process of creating 3D objects and scenes from 2D shapes. The most common methods of modeling are lofting and shape along a specific direction is lofting. Lathing involves rotation of 2D shape about an axis to create a 3D object.

  • Surface texture-It involves imparting realistic appearences to the 3D models by applying textures over the object surface.

  • Lighting-It involves placing the lights in the scene by specifying their intensities, direction and colour. The directions of shadows are also considered.

  • Camera-Camera placements determine how the scene should seem.Movement of camera can be produce zooming and panning effects.
  • Animation-Animating the objects involve creation of key frames and tweening to create intermediate frames. This step involves defining the object motion and how the lighting and views change during the animation.

  • Rendering-This is the final step in creating 3D animation and involves giving attributes like file type, frame size, frame rate, etc.Rendering can take considerable time, depending on the complexity of the animation.
